Martial Arts Instructor
Deven Davenport has had an interest in martial arts since the age of 5 years old. He did not start training officially until the age of 14. Now at 28, he has earned the rank of 3rd Dan Black Belt under the direction of Master David Pierce of Bushi Ban Martial Arts and Fitness. Deven has been instructing all ages, all ranks for 8 years.
As an instructor, Deven teaches with a strong work ethic. His classes are informative and challenging, but exciting and fun for all age groups.
With his quest for knowledge, he always strives to become as well rounded in the martial arts as he can. He has trained one on one and attended classes and seminars with some of the biggest names in martial arts. Such as:
– American Bondo Association’s Grand Master Myong Gi- Knife Combat
– Bushi Ban’s Grand Master Zulfi Ahmed- Traditional Kata /MMA
– Senior Master Eric Loveless Kickboxing/Stick Fighting
– UFC Champions-Lyoto Machida – MMA and Matt Hughes-MMA
– American Top Team’s Ricardo Liborio- MMA
Some of his of accomplishments include:
– Competing in traditional Karate tournaments on a local and national level.
– Has been requested and performed for NBA half time shows
– Has been requested and performed for Grand Masters and Black Belt Hall of Fame Members
– One of the founding members of Bushi Ban’s award winning Team Xtreme demo team
– 2004 The Excellence in Motion award (as part of Team Xtreme)
– 2005 Winner of the Salt City Nationals flying side kick event. (6’1″in height)
– 2007 Utah Summer Games Gold Medal in Creative Weapons Kata
– 2007 Utah Summer Games Silver Medal in Traditional Kata
– 2007 Bushi Ban Nationals 2nd place in Point Fighting
– 2007 & 2009 Bushi Ban Nationals Grand Champion Creative Weapons Kata
– 2009 Bushi Ban Nationals 2nd place Open Hand Creative Kata
Not limiting himself to only one aspect of martial arts has made him experienced and knowledgeable in the combative, weapons, extreme, and traditional martial arts.
