O2 Auditions!

Program Overview

In an ongoing effort to nurture emerging artists, Junior Company Odyssey 2 offers a full-scholarship, pre-professional training program, which gives young dancers the opportunity to spend nine months training intensively and performing with the company.

Twelve dancers, ages 14 to 18, receive full scholarships to train extensively in ballet; jazz; tap; funk; and acting. They perform with the company during its Kingsbury Hall seasons and have their own performances in May each year. This rigorous program is directed by award-winning Choreographer and original Odyssey Dance Theatre Member, Tiffany Carpenter, and rehearsal space is hosted by The Pointe Performing Arts Academy.

Audition Information

When:
Friday, April 30 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where:
The Pointe Performing Arts Academy in Lindon. See the Map here.

Process:

There will be a ballet combo, hip hop combo, and jazz combo and short tap step demonstrated, and you will be asked to do each one. Please bring the appropriate shoes for each portion of the audition (see below).

What to wear:

• Jazz clothes, not baggy
• Jazz shoes or foot undeez
• Ballet slippers and pointe shoes
• Tap shoes

Cost:

There is a $300 company fee to cover costume rentals, etc. There will also be choreography costs TBA. Shoes, tights, and leotards are the responsibility of the dancer.  

Scholarship includes all classes, workshops, and conventions at The Pointe and also Odyssey's Dance Utah! summer workshop.

Performances include but are not limited to: Thriller, It's a Wonderful Life, benefit concerts, one competition showcase, Shut Up and Dance, year-end O2 show, and Spring Recital with The Pointe.  Locations vary between Utah County and Salt Lake City.

Class and rehearsal schedule:

Starting in August and going through mid-May, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (one or two nights until 9 p.m.) Monday through Friday, plus additional rehearsals with the Odyssey company as performances approach.
